This is a really cool establishment off of 103rd and Riverside Park. The bar/restaurant area is located in what looks like the base of a bridge on Riverside Drive. There is an upstairs and downstairs here, and while the area is a little busy with the Henry Hudson traffic going by, this is still a great spot to visit if you're in the area. Especially if your kid is playing a game in one of the parks nearby.
If you have a dog and live in the UWS, odds are, you’ve probably found yourself hanging out at Ellington in the Park before or after a fun romp in the dog run. My husband and I LOVE coming here after taking our pup to the dog run across the way! We look forward every year to when Ellington’s “opens its doors” (aka opens the shutters on the upstairs bar) so that we can enjoy the delicious food and fun bevs there.
I’m personally a fan of their iced tea, though it’s inconsistent what it’ll taste like each time haha. Sometimes it’s more like an Arnold Palmer. Other times it’s like a classic unsweet iced tea. Most recently, it tasted like raspberry lemon sweet tea. Either way, it’s refreshing and a good option when you aren’t ready for the booze yet. That said — I also enjoy getting the tea spiked with whiskey for those times when I do feel up for the booze!
They have a great selection of liquors and a pretty good offering of wines. Beers are great even though I don’t drink beer much — my husband, however, loves the selection.
The BEST thing this place makes, though, is their Turkey burger. Hands down the best Turkey burger I’ve had in NYC and that’s why this patio bar gets a solid 4 stars from me! It is SO good and I hope they never change it on the menu.
This place is so fun. Go with your dog, your softball crew, friends, or just you.
Delicious Food! The Most luscious burgers in the world! Tastiest Cocktails in Manhattan! Friendly Staff! Phenomenal Fresh ambience!Beautiful Views! Becca leadership skills are amazing! Firman was very welcoming!
Great food and even better location overlooking the river (great for a sunset view). No water fountain available, but they do sell bottled water. Spicy hot dog was good, but small for a meal.
There is something magical about sitting in Riverside Park at dusk, with good friends, well-behaved dogs, a glass of wine or a cold beer, and some tasty pub food.
Ellington in the Park is that spot.
With a lovely view of the Hudson River, the soft hum of traffic on the Henry Hudson parkway, families riding by on bikes, and the occasional raptor flying through the trees, you can feel the stress of the day falling away.
Update (8/2/2023): For some unknown reason, the downstairs bar area isn't staffed, so if you want anything, you must go to the upstairs, smaller, less functional bar. Hopefully this is only a temporary inconvenience, but I somehow fear it is permanent.
We were really happy with the drink and food offerings here. There were fish tacos, kids' hot dogs, fries, salads, pizza, calamari... A bit of everything! Beer list was varied and there were non-alcoholic options like lemonade.
We reached their around 5:00 PM and still were able to get a place to sit down in the open. With Covid protocol and a 3 year old enjoyed the rush of the moderate crowd. Enough open place with area to run around and play (TT, volleyball, monkey bar..) and a clear view of Hudson River. Thoroughly enjoyed my time here. If you are in this area try this location. You will enjoy it. As more people come out it may be worthwhile to call ahead and get a reservation.
A decent meal on a picnic table overlooking a playground and the Hudson River behind it.
